Overview

I am a comprehensive ophthalmologist and informaticist at UCSD. My research interests include health information technology integration into clinical workflows; predictive modeling utilizing traditional statistical methods, machine learning/deep learning, and natural language processing; implementation and clinical translation of these models; and integrating sensors, wearables, and other digital health technology for supporting clinical care. I am especially interested in how to leverage technology to improve care for special populations such as older individuals, individuals with disabilities (e.g. visual impairment), and minority groups.
